Services
Types of Services offered by the Counseling Center include:
Art
Therapy is a tool that combines the creative processes of the individual or group and therapeutic interventions. Through the art process, individuals can often approach difficult issues and convey a message much more clearly and safely than with words. No artistic talent is required, you need not know how to paint, draw or sculpt. Feelings and emotions will provide the creative drive. CCOEA provides an art studio to facilitate the healing process.
Play
Therapy allows a therapist to approach and understand
a child from a developmental perspective. In order to facilitate
children's expression and exploration of their inner world, therapists
must move into the conceptual-expressive world of children. That
natural medium of communication for children is play and activity.
CCOEA provides a special playroom equipped with specific toys and
art media to provide a space to create therapeutic growth and healing.
Sand
Tray Therapy allows a client to create a three-dimensional
scene or picture in a try using sand, water and realistic miniature
figures. Sand tray therapy enables one to explore life experience
through a tangible process. CCOEA utilizes a specifically designed
room for sand tray.
Women's Group counseling is also offered. Using creativity our counselors address mid-life transition, relationship, spirituality, self-esteem and personal growth issues. These groups are conducted as workshops focusing on understanding the power of creativity.
Custody Evaluations,
which use a multi method approach in gathering relevant data, are
also offered. Working out a fair and realistic custody agreement
is one of the most difficult tasks for parents going through a divorce
or separation. The primary consideration in a child custody evaluation
is to assess the individual and family factors that affect the best
psychological interests of the child.
